Hi, my name is Jemma – dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I’ve always been fascinated by them, how they think, feel, and communicate.
Before becoming a groomer, I spent time helping at several rescue centres. That’s where my journey really began—and where I adopted my own rescue dog Wolfie (Who you can see in the photographs on this page). He completely changed my path. Supporting him led me to learn more about dog behaviour, and I went on to attend a variety of courses so I could better understand and help him.
From there, I also volunteered as an assistant puppy trainer for a year, this gave me even more insight into building trust, confidence, and positive relationships with dogs.
It was during COVID that everything clicked—I realised that dog grooming was exactly what I wanted to do. I could combine my passion for dogs with my knowledge of behaviour to create a calm, understanding grooming experience, that would make them clean, comfortable and looking fantastic, especially for those who may feel anxious or unsure.
I completed my iPET qualification in 2021 and gained experience working both in a salon and from home. Later, we made the move to the Isle of Wight, where my husband and I created my own peaceful grooming cabin in the garden—my little haven where dogs can feel safe, relaxed, and cared for.
I’m also continuing my professional development through holistic grooming studies with the the Holistic Grooming Academy.
Everything I do is centred around the dog’s wellbeing, making sure each visit is as positive and stress-free as possible.
I look forward to welcoming you and your dog to Jem’s Fresh Paws, where they’ll be cared for with patience, kindness, and understanding every step of the way. 🐾✨
